Our story
Roots and Blooms is grounded in the strength of our ancestry. We come from the Híɫzaqv Nation, located in Bella Bella. Our roots begin with Sharron and Wilfred Martin, a couple whose love and gratitude embodied the sprout of Indigeneity.
Through the passing of a Dad and Papa we continue creating in his legacy, a kind-hearted man who cared deeply for everyone. His knowledge and teachings were passed to their daughter Amber, and then to her daughter Kadence, the first new stem to grow from that foundation. His memory is never forgotten, but relived in honour with every creation.
Our artwork is deeply rooted in Indigenous ancestry, revitalizing and regrowing what was once meant to be cut down. We keep watering, and we remain blooming. Every bead stitched, every thread pulled is created with love and resilience, an offering to our people and to all who walk with us in the spirit of reconciliation.
